What can we do as individuals on a day-to-day basis to alleviate the issues affecting our environment? It’s this question that led our company to start our journey to a more sustainable future. 2020/21 will see us making a concerted effort to become more environmentally friendly, and we are learning about ways in which Cybrid can help reduce its carbon footprint. We’re undertaking a range of small steps towards being a greener organisation, including:
Eliminating Single-Use Coffee Cups

Our engineers work hard to ensure that our clients’ systems are up and running 24/7, and with the possibility of off-site call-outs happening at any time, it’s no surprise that coffee is a team favourite here at Cybrid. Switching to Circular&Co’s reusable coffee cups is just one of the many micro approaches we take towards sustainability. Made from recycled single-use cups, Circular&Co’s reusable travel mugs can be returned after 10 years to be recycled and regenerated, meaning that we can help put an end to waste and pollution, all while getting a caffeine fix!
Saying No To Unnecessary Plastic

In the UK alone, we fail to recycle around 16 million plastic bottles every day. To move away from disposable plastics, we found a solution in Chilly’s bottles. With their core mission being “to accelerate the adoption and everyday use of reusable products”, we gave all of our team members their own branded bottle. What difference has this made? We’ve calculated that combining the use of reusable cups and Chilly’’s bottles has stopped our team member throwing away over 200 disposable cups!
Looking Good and Doing Good

At the end of 2019, we made the switch to use Henri-Lloyd as our uniform supplier. Why? Henri-Lloyd chairman Hans Eckerström is deeply passionate about his surroundings and determined that Henri-Lloyd play their part in sustainability. His philosophy is that we are the guests in this world, and we should treat our host with respect. This means that Henri-Lloyd is working with some seriously innovative fabrics, and as a result, our Cybrid-branded jackets are all made from 100 percent recycled polyester each using on average nearly 15 plastic (PET) bottles.
Buying Local

While we strive to use our reusable cups wherever we can, for occasions such as events and large meetings it may not always be possible. In this instance, we work with South Downs Water – a company that provides locally sourced water, in bottles made from 100% recycled material. Working hard to become a carbon-neutral company, South Downs Water only delivers within a forty-mile radius to keep its carbon footprint to a minimum.
This is a start, and we know there’s a long way to go. The dedication of doing better for the environment requires constant evolution, and we’re always asking ourselves how we can do better and improve our ecological footprint.
